CB786 “Nature Access to All (NatAc)”
As part of the Nature accessibility project NatAc the final of the planned infrastructure works has just been completed – in the end of September the new outdoor nature class has been constructed at Lake Liepāja Zirgu island.
The area of the outdoor class is almost 85 sq.m. and it is foreseen for 30 children. It has a hard, even gravel surface with 16 special benches which resemble the horses. The author of the idea is architect Oskars Poikāns, who have simbolically reflected a herd of horses on the island, as the name “Zirgu” means “horses” in English, therefore it is so appropriate to have them on the the “Horse” island!
There is also a short path with a railing stretching to the outdoor class, thus providing easy access to wheelchair users.
We’re happy that one more nice activity has been done for the imrovement of nature acess in Kurzeme and we do hope that the new nature class wilbe be used and enjoyed both, by those who learn about nature and those, who teach about nature!
The outdoor nature class has been constructed with the support of the Central Baltic Programme 2014-2020!
