S002 “BSR Food Coalition”
On 12 April 2023, as part of the #bsrfoodcoalition project, 10 schools from Kurzeme (Tukums, Ventspils, Saldus and South-Kurzeme counties), which will take part in the school meals pilot project, came together for their first meeting at Zenta Mauriņa Secondary School in Grobiņa. The pilots are expected to start in May 2023 and will run for the whole next year. The schools agreed on the basic pilot activities for improving school meals on order to facilitate the quality of food, knowledge on healthy eating habits and locally grown food in meals, those being identified as the possible activities: master classes for chefs, experience exchange visits, degustation of production by local farmers, diversification of menus etc.
Zenta Mauriņa Secondary School in Grobiņa this year has won the school caterers’ competition and hass been acknowledged as the best school caterer in Latvia
The first pilot activity shall take place already on May 10 at the Ugāle Secondary School.
