On August 21-22, 2024, the partners of the “Access Routes” project met in Alūksne to discuss the progress of the project and the upcoming steps and activities.

Progress of the project and upcoming activities:

  • in the summer season, all partners have been actively carrying out accessibility inspections in Kurzeme, Vidzeme and 2 regions in Estonia – Voru and Tartu – checking the nature trails, museums, cafes, guest houses and many, many other objects of interest;
  • and actively update the accessibility website mapeirons.eu uploading info on new accessible objects;
  • paralelly, partners have started working on the key project activity – development of accessible tourism routes, taking into account the results from objects inspected so far;
  • and generating ideas for the cross-border routes, paying attention to route thematics, so that they are more attractive to travellers and with addded value both, for nature lovers and for those who love to delve into cultural and historical heritage;
  • partners also discussed various recommendations for creating the tactile solutions – this work has already started in Kurzeme and shortly will start also in Vidzeme.

During the meeting, partners also visited one of the project investment sites in Vidzeme – the former Nuclear missile base in Zeltiņi, where 2 tactile stands will be installed, as well as some of accessibility solutions applied in the city.

Thanks to the project partmer – Vidzeme Planning Region – for hosting!

The next meeting will be held in the beginning of October, when partners will come together on 11 – 12 October in Rouge (Estonia) for one really impressive and improtant event – the Vunki Mano hackathon, which this year will focus on solving problems related to accessibility and social inclusion!

Project activities are being implemented with the support of the Interreg Estonia – Latvia Programme 2021-2027.
