About the Project

IN MOBILITY is an international cooperation project that aims to promote inclusive, socially fair, and accessible mobility in urban areas. The project is implemented under the “Greener Europe” objective of the Interreg Europe Programme and addresses the issue of so-called mobility poverty – situations where people lack access to public transport due to financial or practical barriers.

Project Objective

To improve nine European regional development policy instruments in order to reduce negative impacts of urban mobility policies and to mitigate mobility poverty, particularly for people with low income or limited access to transport.

Key Challenges Addressed

  • Residents with low income who cannot afford public transport
  • People without access to a car or micro-mobility options (e.g., taxi, ride-sharing)
  • Children unable to attend school or extracurricular activities due to lack of transport
  • People who rely on bicycles but cannot afford repairs to commute or carry out daily tasks

Thematic Focus Areas

  • Availability of public transport
  • Affordability and transport conditions
  • Social exclusion
  • Public perception and engagement

Planned Activities

  • Launching new project calls addressing mobility poverty
  • Integrating social fairness and just transition principles into transport strategies
  • Reviewing existing policies by shifting focus from traffic flow to citizen needs
  • Strengthening administrative capacity in sustainable mobility policymaking
  • Promoting best practice exchange and interregional learning
