Erasmus Accreditation – Mobility Consortium Coordinator

In the 2024 Erasmus Accreditation Call for Proposals, Kurzeme Planning Region submitted an application for accreditation as a mobility consortium coordinator to continue implementing European mobility projects. The aim was to expand cooperation with local governments, NGOs, adult educators and volunteers in Kurzeme, providing participants with opportunities to improve their knowledge, gain international experience, and explore new, innovative methods in adult learning. This approach supports the development of a culture of adult education at both organisational and regional levels, fostering adult learning traditions and expanding the unified European learning and teaching space.

Following the results of the Call for Proposals, Kurzeme Planning Region was granted Erasmus accreditation, identification number 2024-1-LV01-KA120-ADU-000284600.

What is Erasmus Accreditation?

Erasmus accreditation is a tool for actively engaging in international exchange and cooperation with organisations working in adult education, as well as for supporting the implementation of an organisation’s development plan.

The aim of accreditation is to strengthen the European dimension of teaching and learning by:

  • promoting the values of inclusion and diversity, tolerance and democratic participation;
  • enhancing knowledge of Europe’s shared cultural heritage and diversity;
  • supporting the development of professional networks across Europe.

In adult education, the aim is to improve the quality of formal, informal and non-formal provision by:

  • enhancing the quality of adult education through staff professionalisation and building the capacity of providers to deliver high-quality programmes;
  • improving teaching and learning to meet the needs of society as a whole;
  • ensuring the acquisition of competences defined in the EU framework (eight EQF levels, 2018), including basic skills (literacy, numeracy, digital skills) and other life skills;
  • increasing the capacity of providers to implement high-quality mobility projects, encouraging participation from adults of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds, with particular focus on disadvantaged learners, small adult education providers, newcomers to the programme, and community-based grassroots organisations.
