LL-00231 “Development of the PANORAMA ROUTE” (PANORAMA)

Over 28.09.-03.10., as part of the PANORAMA project, 15 Kurzeme tourism specialists and 10 representatives from Lithuania tourism and park administrations went to Poland to visit unusual panoramic viewpoints and get experience and inspiration from the Polish colleagues.

Alltogether we visited 12 objects, as well as participated in the Baltic Sea Tourism Forum 2025, which took place on 1.-2.10. in Gdansk with two key overarching topics – regenerative tourosm and data in tourism.

On the first day of the visit we experienced the impressive 200m long and 36m high Stancziky bridges, located close to the Lithuanain border, once a railway viaduct, now transformed into a great touristic object. As well as graduation towers in Goldap – a structure, used in the production of salt, that removes water from a saline solution by evaporation, increasing its concentration of mineral salts. The tower consists of a wooden wall-like frame stuffed with bundles of brushwood and being here, everyone can breath in a healthy salty fresh air.

Over the next days we visited two former watertowers, nowadays transformed into viewing towers, one of which is accessible to older visitors, as well as people in wheelchairs thanks to improved accessibility and the lift inside, while the other features an interactive exposition and a cozy cafe; we visited also a historical observation tower with a nice and small souvenir shop selling local arts and crafts, the former Elbag market gate tower and the tower of St. Nicolas cathedral with a spectacular view to the whole Elbag town, as well as probably the most unusual  viewpoint – former building crane at Gdansk port, which now is open to visitors as a viewing tower and in order to “conquer” it, our participants had to sweat a bitJ and they definately deserve a praise for courage!

The project team believes that participants have brought home many fresh ideas on how to identify unusual panoramic objects and how to adjust them as touristic objects, to create a joint Kurzeme – North-Lithuania panorama route!

Project activities are being implemented with the support of the Interreg Latvia-Lithuania Programme 2021-2027.
