On 4–5 November 2025, project partners of “SuRuMo – Sustainable Rural Mobility” (CB0100064) visited the Kurzeme region for a partner meeting and a series of field visits in the Tukums Municipality and Kuldīga Municipality. The aim of the meeting was to review the project’s progress and introduce partners to regional approaches to sustainable mobility and community-driven development.

The partner meeting took place on 4 November at Šlokenbeka Manor, where representatives from Latvia and Sweden, together with a representative of the Interreg Central Baltic Programme, discussed completed activities, current challenges, and upcoming tasks. Particular attention was given to the results of mobility solution testing and the planned improvements. After the meeting, partners joined a guided tour of Tukums to learn about the town’s history and main points of interest.

On 5 November, the programme continued with study visits in Vāne (Tukums Municipality) and Alsunga (Kuldīga Municipality).
In Vāne, partners met with the Head of the Parish Administration, Signija Tauriņa-Alksne, who introduced local initiatives and community-led development projects that enhance resident engagement and improve quality of life in rural areas. The visit also included a stop at the creative house “Smilgāji”, where local entrepreneur Aiga Bitmane shared her experience in developing rural entrepreneurship and strengthening community-based economic activity.

Later in the day, partners travelled to Alsunga, where they were welcomed by the Head of the Tourism Centre, Laura Reinholde, and local cultural enthusiast Juris Lipsnis. During the visit, partners learned about Suiti cultural traditions, community initiatives, and cooperation practices with the municipality that support sustainable local development and inform the planning of mobility solutions.

Overall, the visit provided project partners with a comprehensive and practical insight into the experience of the Kurzeme region. The exchange was productive and inspiring, offering new ideas for ongoing collaboration and strengthening joint efforts to develop sustainable mobility solutions in rural territories.

Kurzeme Planning Region extends its sincere thanks to the communities of Vāne and Alsunga for their warm welcome, openness, and support during the visit.
