Project No. C034
On 5 February this year, an international online seminar titled “Embrace Off-Season and Grow Your Sales” took place within the Light in the Dark project. The seminar was organised by Åland University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with project partners and focused on the development of off-season tourism and the expansion of sales opportunities across the Baltic Sea Region.
The seminar brought together small and medium-sized nature tourism enterprises from several countries who are interested in making better use of shoulder seasons, strengthening their tourism offers, and improving competitiveness throughout the year. The working language of the event was English.
During the seminar, participants were introduced to the objectives and experience of the Light in the Dark project, as well as to off-season tourism as a deliberate and strategic business opportunity. Presentations and discussions focused in particular on:
- developing a unique selling proposition for the off-season,
- marketing approaches for reaching audiences beyond the peak tourism season,
- practical examples of strengthening sales skills,
- experience stories shared by tourism entrepreneurs from Latvia, Sweden, and other countries.
As part of the programme, tourism entrepreneurs from the Kurzeme region — Vilsons Production and Es Gatavoju — presented their jointly developed tourism product “Dzīves smalkās baudas” (“The Subtle Pleasures of Life”). The product had previously participated in the Kurzeme Planning Region’s competition for new off-season tourism products and serves as a strong example of a collaborative, experience-based offer designed specifically for the off-season.
Seminar recording
The seminar was recorded, and the session recording is now available on the project’s YouTube channel. We invite you to watch the recording and share it within your professional network.
