Project No.: C037

On November 7, 2024, Kurzeme Planning Region organized the first regional strategy laboratory as part of the “Social Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship Ecosystem” (RESIST) project. The online event brought together representatives from the Ministry of Welfare and all five planning regions of Latvia: Latgale, Riga, Vidzeme, Zemgale, and Kurzeme.

During the meeting, participants analyzed and discussed the Latvian Social Economy Action Plan for 2025–2029, focusing on the legal aspects of social economy, the division of responsibilities, and monitoring systems.

The discussion was led by Imants Lipskis, Director of the Labour Market Policy Department at the Ministry of Welfare, and Juris Cebulis, Senior Expert of the project “Support for Social Entrepreneurship,” who provided valuable insights.

Participants addressed the main activities and challenges faced by regions in strengthening and developing the social entrepreneurship ecosystem. They also exchanged experiences and shared suggestions for improving the action plan to further the development of Latvia’s social economy.

Kurzeme Planning Region actively contributes to the advancement of the social economy through the implementation of the Interreg Baltic Sea Region cross-border program project “RESIST.” The project includes various activities aimed at fostering social innovation and entrepreneurship in Kurzeme.
