As part of the Access Routes project, in summer 2024 construction works started to build a new beach at the lake Būšnieki in Ventspils that would be accessible to all (including wheelchair users). Construction works were going for a bit less than half a year and just now the new beach is ready and open to visitors.

With the project support, the lake boardwalk, changing cabins, reasting areas with picnic tables and benches, as well as outdoor gym stands were installed along with few access paths. For swimming to be accessible for wheelchair users in the summer season, a floating swimming wheelchair is also available at the reception of the Ventspils Deer Garden (Briežu dārzs) located right accross the street near the parking lot opposite the beach.

We invite everyone to visit the newly built beach with resting areas and not to be afraid of the winter season, as the Lake Būšnieki Nature Trail is accessible in all seasons!

Project activities are being implemented with the support of the Interreg Estonia – Latvia Programme 2021-2027.
