On 16–17 February 2026, the partners of the project “Access Routes” met in Tartu, Estonia, to discuss the progress of project implementation and upcoming activities, as well as to participate in a forum on places and their accessibility organised by the Estonian project partners.

During the forum, the new Travelling Museum was presented – a specially designed chest containing miniature items that help various target groups, including children and people with visual or intellectual disabilities, to explore the history of Kurzeme and South Estonia. Such chests will be available in three museums in Estonia and six museums in Kurzeme.

The partners also presented a new nature interpretation bag, designed to provide an engaging and accessible way to learn about nature. The bag highlights the Habitat of the Year 2025 – EDGE (river edge, lake edge, sea edge). These bags will be available in the Vidzeme region.

During the meeting, partners agreed on the activities to be completed during the project prolongation period until September 2026. These include finalising the production and installation of tactile solutions in Vidzeme and South Estonia, completing the design of accessible routes and developing and printing the Travel Guide, as well as preparing guidelines for creating various interpretation solutions based on the experience gained within the project.

As part of the visit, partners toured the Sports and Olympic Museum, the Estonian National Museum and the University of Tartu Museum of Natural History, where they explored and tested practical accessibility and interpretation solutions. The project investment site in Tartu – Maarja Church – was also visited, where a tactile model of the church will be installed.

Project activities are being implemented with the support of the Interreg Estonia–Latvia Programme 2021–2027.
