From January to April 2025, within the project “SuRuMo” (“Sustainable Rural Mobility”), active work was carried out on the preparation of procurement documents, pilot solution testing, and cooperation with local communities to inform them about the pilot activities.
During this period, we accomplished several important and integral tasks for the project:
Procurement of mobile data
On March 23, the procurement process “Mapping of mobility habits based on mobile data in the Kurzeme planning region” was completed. Its purpose is to provide the digital planning tool (a multimodal mobility model analysis tool) developed within the “SuRuMo” project with the necessary data, including mobility habit mapping based on mobile data in the Kurzeme planning region.
Successful outcome of the price survey for design and layout services
On March 21, the price survey “Project design and layout services” was successfully concluded. The aim was to determine the costs of providing design and layout services for the preparation of project publicity materials. As a result, the most economically advantageous offer was selected to ensure visually appealing and clear project communication.
Meeting with “Freelway” mobility app developers on digital solutions
On February 5, we met with the developers of the “Freelway” mobility app to discuss the digital solutions most suitable for meeting the needs of the stakeholders involved in the project. During the meeting, we agreed on how different functions would be adapted to meet both user and project requirements.
Active work on testing the pilot solution – on-demand transport; preparation of procurement documents
During this period, preparation for testing the pilot solution “On-demand transport” has been actively ongoing. Work is currently being done on procurement documents to implement pilots in several areas—Alsunga, Vāne, Pļavas, and Ķūļciems—in the autumn months. To ensure purposeful project progress, meetings will be organized with stakeholders—residents of the pilot areas—to inform them about the pilots planned for this autumn. At these meetings, residents will be informed about their involvement in using the pilot solution, encouraged to participate in its implementation, and discussions will be held on testing and monitoring solutions.
Project partner meetings and cross-border working group sessions
During this period, project partner meetings actively took place to promote project progress, evaluate results, and define the next steps. From May 13 to 14, a cross-border meeting with lead partners in Sweden is planned, while on May 22, a cross-border working group information event will take place. At that time, project partners will share experiences and inform stakeholders about the work accomplished so far and the planned pilot solutions.
About the project
The project “SuRuMo” (Sustainable Rural Mobility) is implemented to conduct research in pilot areas, collect and analyse data, and develop a unified digital platform, thereby finding solutions to ensure sustainable mobility in rural areas.
The project activities are carried out with the support of the Central Baltic Programme 2021–2027.
