This time the training took place in Valdemārpils, from 10 to 12 May, during which the guides learned about the planning, organisation and holding of nature events, devising of excusion routes, mobile outdoor hiking applications. Undoutably, the most interesting and exciting part of the training this time was the practical work in groups, by making excursion videos. The guides were devided into 4 groups, each of which received a certain topic, which the excursion had to be devised and hold on, by involving all guides within the group and by recording the excursion on the video. Each group worked hard to find the necessary information on the internet, books, interviewing each other and the local population etc. and actively filming the various excursion fragments to compose a video story, which was afterwards analised by the lecturers and the other groups. The event was a real success! The project team wishes our nature guides to have an adventurous summer, with a lot of excursions, as the next – fifth training session will take place already at the end of the active tourism season in September.
The training is organised by the Kurzeme Planning Region in cooperation with the Nature Guides’ Association of Latvia as part of the UniGreen project No. LLI-010 under the Interreg Latvia-Lithuania Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020. The training runs from October 2017 till November 2018 and it provides for 6 training sessions (each 3 days long) in Kurzeme overall and a practical training visit to Lithuania (2 days). The next training session will take place on 26-28 September in Roja and it will focus on nature interpretation to children and youth.
