Project Healthy Lifestyle “A Billion Steps Challenge” (BISTEPS), LL-00249

The project aims to promote physical activity among the residents of Biržai, Ignalina, and Šiauliai municipalities in Lithuania, and the Latgale and Kurzeme regions in Latvia by launching the innovative cross-border “Billion Steps Challenge”. It seeks to inspire residents to adopt healthier lifestyles through tools and incentives that encourage regular physical activity.

Project activities:

  •  A step challenge where residents will compete between municipalities to see who can take the most steps;
  • Development of virtual health routes, including information on recommended distances, rest points, heart rate monitoring, advice on water intake, additional physical activities during walks, and other aspects of a healthy lifestyle;
  • Organisation of physical activity camps for children and seniors, promoting a healthy lifestyle, international cooperation, cultural exchange, transfer of good practices from different countries, and other related activities.

Implementation: 01.03.2025. – 28.02.2027.

Total project budget: €312,415.69, of which ERDF funding amounts to €249,932.53.

The budget allocated to Kurzeme Planning Region: €62,468.59, including €49,974.87 in ERDF funding.
