On 26–27 May 2026, Dreverna, Lithuania, will host the final conference of the WaterWays project, titled “From Rivers to Lakes: Water Tourism Opportunities & Experiences in Latvia and Lithuania.” The event will bring together water tourism experts, local authorities, entrepreneurs, and project partners from both countries to review the project’s achievements and outline future development directions.

The first day of the conference will focus on the results and innovations developed within the WaterWays project. The session “WaterWays: Project Achievements and Future Outlook” will provide an overview of the project’s outcomes, including the introduction of the digital platform riverways.eu and the Safe & Green concept. The programme also features presentations on water tourism trends in Lithuania, highlighting successful examples such as opening the Akmena River in Kretinga to the public and the activities of the “Fish Road” cluster.

A panel discussion titled “Unlocking the Full Potential of Water Tourism in Green and Safe Concept” will bring together experts from Latvia and Lithuania to explore how sustainable and safe water tourism infrastructure can be further strengthened. The day will conclude with reflections, closing remarks, and a networking dinner.

The second day of the conference will offer participants a hands-on experience of local water tourism sites. The programme includes a boat trip from Dreverna to the Dunes, an educational excursion at Strykys, and visits to project implementation sites such as Agluonėnai Pond and Lazdininkai Pond. The agenda also features a visit to the “Darbėnai glowing swings park,” described as the first illuminated rope park of its kind in Lithuania.
