“Riverways II” Project partners meeting in Setomaa

On 15 – 16 July 2025 as part of the “Riverways II” project the Kurzeme Planning Region met with its 20 project partners from Latvia and Estonia. This time partners met in Setomaa, Estonia, to look at what has been done in the project during March – July period, to discuss accessibility solutions for pontoon piers and resting places worked out so far by each of the partners, which our project accessibility experts from Latvia and Estonia helped to identify and develop, as well as to prepare for the next comprehensive stage of the project – data upload for waterbodies’ and services related to waterbodies and water activities on riverways un mapeirons websites.

At present almost all of the partners have started procurements for developig sketches and construction of piers that would be accessible to all, have commenced accessibility inspections of beaches and created the accessible Beach section on mapeirons.eu, which will be actively ammended with info and photos in the nearest months.

In Kurzeme, we are working on the construction of:

accessible piers on the Ālande River (Grobiņa) and the Venta River (Skrunda and Raņķi);
comfortable winter swimming place with a pontoon hut at the Beberliņi waterbody in Liepāja.
